The secret to beautiful, healthy skin

You may be wondering what the secret is to achieving beautiful, healthy skin. The truth is there is no magic wand and no one treatment or one product or any quick fix promise will deliver the results you dream of.  Reaching your skin goals is a journey. So how do know what products and treatments are best suited to your skin? By starting with a comprehensive skin consultation with a trained professional skin clinician. Beat the fads, the clever marketing tactics and the bogus reports, and finally be on your way to achieving the natural, long-lasting results you deserve.

Why should I have a skin consultation?

Education is key! Through modern technology and social media, we are literally bombarded with information, some true, but a lot not so true, it’s hard to know what to believe. That’s where we come in! Each member of our team has undergone years of extensive training, is diploma or university qualified, has trialled a wide variety of skincare ranges and has experienced and performed a variety of in-house treatments. Basically, we have done all the hard work for you. Now, we understand that you might like to do your homework, which is fine, in fact we really encourage you to do this. Remember, education is key! Doing your research pre-consultation will give you a better understanding of what we offer and why. Questions are always welcome. A thorough consultation is the key to delivering long lasting results.

What happens during a skin consultation?

When you arrive at the clinic for your consultation you will be asked to fill out a comprehensive consultation form which includes questions about your skin, medical history, lifestyle etc. We ask you to be as thorough and honest as you can to enable us to give you the very best treatment plan.  There is no judgement passed on your lifestyle choices, we are only concerned with how these might affect your skin and how best to assist you in achieving the results you want. It is also a good idea to bring your current skin care and any medications with you or take photos of them instead. We prefer you to come in without make up but if that doesn’t suit we can do a cleanse for you. Next you will then have a private discussion with one of clinicians based around your consultation form.  By looking, feeling and through the use of skin imaging equipment, we will thoroughly assess your skin and your specific concerns. Based on our findings we will create a unique treatment plan that includes a list of suggested homecare products and in-clinic treatments. After we run you through the details of the treatment procedures and skin care suggested you will also have the opportunity to ask questions.  All of this information will then be emailed to you for your perusal and consideration.

When do I need to have a skin consultation?

We have covered the benefits of starting with a skin consultation, however, our skin is forever changing and we would suggest you have a follow up consultation every 6 months, but no longer than 12 months apart. The condition of your skin today may be completely different within even just a few months, especially once you embark on a treatment plan. During a follow up consultation we can reassess your skin, chart your progress and address any questions or concerns with your personalised prescription. Based on your progress we may want to tweak your prescription. One huge advantage to follow up consultations is the opportunity to take photos of your progress. It’s amazing to see the before and after photos. A thorough skin consultation is absolutely the best way to start off your SkinMedix journey and a great way to stay on track.

What happens after my skin consultation?

At the end of the consultation process we will send you home with all the appropriate information needed including brochures, booklets, web links and links to our relevant blog posts, should you wish to do further research. As mentioned we will also email you a personalised prescription tailored to your specific skin concerns, complete with a full list of recommended homecare products including instructions on dosage, usage and prices, and a list of in-clinic treatment recommendations with prices. This gives you the opportunity to reflect on all the information and decide what is best for you based on your budget and time constraints without feeling any pressure.

We know our stuff but no one knows you like you do. We can give you all the right information, tools and useful recommendations to improve your skin but when it comes down to it only you can decide which direction is the best fit. Knowledge is power, so take full advantage of the skin consultation process to ensure you are making an educated decision and the right choice for your skin.

We would love to hear from you. Contact us to book your comprehensive skin consultation today!
